Go out on a song...

A couple of posts ago I was mentioning Xmas music... and a few years ago some of us chatted about it on the old blog too. Here's a song a friend of mine posted on facebook this week... and though I'm not a big cheerleader for Xmas music... or a big fan of this artist... I really liked this song:

I enjoyed watching the movie "Nativity" last night too (we'd seen it before but it was funnier than I remembered). Yo ho ho, indeed.

See you after the break.

I love Tim minchin too Rachel - such a prodigious talent.

Actually, as I say, I'm yet to be really converted to him... I have watched quite a few video clips and often found it just OK. Loved this one though. Somehow just the right mix of cynicism and sentiment. For me anyway.

Our Girl loves 'Matilda' though and I know he's written songs for the new stage musical version... so I'm sure at some point we will see that. Maybe when it comes north.

I will listen to this later. Thanks for a song I don't already know!
Hope you have a lovely Christmas!

Yes, I enjoyed it, but it goes on much too long at the end! I think Randy Newman may do this kind of thing much better?

Merry Christmas, Rachel - wishing you lots of creativity for next year x

I do like Randy N, SW, but Minchin is a different thing - more of a performer, not quite such a songwriter (I think). Often I find his songs go for an easy laugh or, what seems to me, a kind of nasty dig but I liked this one more. And I was SO not in a Xmassy mood...

Creativity, Rae? I hope so... or do I? I'm never sure...

Tired. Must sleep now.

Rather liked that! Merry Christmas, all over now bar the shouting. Which we've had quite a lot of. Have you heard of Rapidough?

Rachel Fox said...

No, but we have just had a massive lie-in (unheard of) after very little sleep the night before Xmas! I thought we were past the can't-sleep-excitement but apparently not...

And I just played the clip again and cried like a baby. Not having the Mum any more I suppose.

It's a lovely song - I enjoyed listening to it last week. I think I'll go home & listen to it again.

Mom-less Christmases are the pits - they really are.

That made me cry, so I'm not sure if I liked it or not!

Hope you had/are having a great festive season. X

Definitely my favourite Xmas song this year. I never think tears are a bad reaction... but then I cry very easily!

What a fine song. I loved the line about tenacious ideas. Been reading Tolstoy on religion and finding, for me, a new definition of "spiritual." Happy new year, my friend.

Happy New Year, Chris. To you and yours.
