Quick protest link

Just a quickie (after that last long post what else could it be?). Former Chumbawamba band member Alice Nutter had a play called "My Generation" on BBC Radio 3 on Sunday. It's about politics and protest (and ordinary lives in Leeds) and I listened to it today. If you've got two hours to give over to listening, I'd recommend you give it a try too. It's on the i-player (here) till Sunday late evening. Plenty of swearing but only where appropriate, I assure you.

Might try to give this time Rachel. Hope you are all keeping warm up there.

The weather's not been too bad up here, Weaver. We've not had any snow yet by the coast here... and none of that frozen rain or whatever it was. Nothing like last year or the year before.

A quick google and I discovered (what I didn't know) that she was born a Nutter, in Lancashire. I assume she took the name Alice as a homage to the Pendle Witch of the same name. I wonder if they are related?

It does say that on wikipedia, doesn't it (that her original surname was Nutter). To be honest I always thought/heard it wasn't her real name... when I lived down there and did know them vaguely. Who knows which is right... maybe I just got the wrong end of the stick and it was only her first name that she'd changed (I had remembered that bit right).
