Snap!

Very little poetry writing going on here just now but an old poem of mine has made it into this new anthology Tides in Time from Pushing Out the Boat, North-East Scotland's magazine of new writing and visual art. The anthology is celebrating 25 years of the magazine - a huge achievement. I have had a couple of poems in this publication (though all well over 10 years ago) but the one they picked is this wee thing Snap:

This is still quite a meaningful one for me for many reasons (more details on request) but it's nice to know some of the words I've bundled together over the years are still hanging out with each other now and then.

You can read more about the anthology here and buy it there too (£12.99 plus postage).

Congratulations! I love that poem even without knowing the back story. But I wouldn't mind hearing the back story (although you probably already have told me at some point in the past, menobrain doesn't remember).

I don't know if it counts as a story... it's about a few things. Firstly travel (and anxiety that has gone with that for me for a good part of my life) and then also this very visual era (if there isn't a photo it didn't happen, or so it feels at times). But then it's also about how comforting photos can be. For all it's faults, for example, I find looking at my Instagram pics very calming and enjoyable - but then I don't post pics of faces (mine or others) very often - which is not what the evil overlords want at all!
